Industrial Rope Access is a proven method of achieving a safe work position at height or with difficult access. Initially developed from techniques used in caving, it has since become popular for marine application such as inspections on oil and gas platforms, as well as derrick building.
Unidive is a member of IRATA International, the only worldwide association on industrial rope access.
Operations Director Francis Ong is certified in IRATA Rope Access Level 3, the association’s highest level of certification. He leads a team of 40 rope access technicians.
Industrial rope access in the marine industry includes three main areas of work:
-
Inspection/Testing of structures, including structural surveys and non-destructive testing.
-
Maintenance & Repair, including secondary fixings, replacement cladding and glazing.
-
Cleaning & Painting.
Unidive’s rope access teams handle all manner of topside work and there are specialized teams working on derrick assembly and refurbishment.
